Cosmetic Tattooing

About

Lisa is our cosmetic tattooist at Beauty Inc.

She has been in the tattooing industry since 2014, her initial training was with Australian Cosmetic Tattooing Association. Since Lisa has continued to upskill and has completed international training with sort after cosmetic tattooist including Georgie Westley and Suzie Mcintosh, and recently Cherie Aryton.

At Beauty Inc. Lisa creates brows tailored to you, and your lifestyle. Brows can be subtle and natural or bold and dense, and everything in between.

Ombre brows are a more soft look creating brows that leave a soft stained look on your skin once healed.

Powdered Brows create a more makeup look brow.

At your appointment Lisa will talk to you about what your daily routines are with your makeup, brows and lifestyle and together decide which will be the best option for your brows.

6 weeks after your first appointment a touch up is required. This is a two step process so please be patience. 6 weeks after your final appointment please book in for an eyebrow shape which is complimentary for Lisa to observe the healed results.

Am I suitable
  • If you have an old tattoo done else where you will need to send Lisa pictures of your brows in good lighting with no makeup on to see if it is possible for her to do. Please note: If you have been to another brow artist and you are coming to see Lisa for you touch up this will be your first appointment with her so expect to be charged for the full first time treatment price, and you may be required to get a touch up 6 weeks later.
  • If you are using ROACCUTANE, RETIN-A or photo sensitising antibiotics eg: Doxy Cycline and high doses of anti-inflammatory medicine or topical medical creams you cannot be treated until 6 months after you have ceased usage of these drugs. Some antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs interact with the tattooing adversely.

  • PREGNANT/ BREASTFEEDING

If you are pregnant you will have to wait to get your brows done.  If you are breastfeeding, you need to be able to pump and dump two feeds straight after the treatment due to anesthetics in the milk.

  • If you suffer from any nervous or anxiety disorders please consider carefully if this is something for you as the process takes a good 6 weeks to be completed and can be an anxious wait as the treatment is not perfected until after healing of the touch up.

  • If you are concerned about a certain skin condition, you may need to provide a note from your doctor please note it is important to specify that the numbing ingredients used are Lidocain 5% and Tetracain 5%, Epinephrine 0.5%.

  • You need to stop taking fish oil 4 weeks before your appointment.

  • No alcohol 24 hours before your appointment

  • No caffeine the day of appointment

Before your Appointment

If you have booked an appointment you will need to buy a small tube of Emla. The cost of these creams is about $18 and can be purchased from a Chemist

One hour before your tattoo appointment you should apply nearly all of the tube of Emla cream to your brows (save the rest for your touch up) and then cover it with glad wrap. Arrive at your appointment with the glad wrap on, or take off glad wrap in car and leave cream on. Most people fold the glad wrap into a long strip and clip it to either side of your hair line to keep it on your eyes. If the numbing cream is not applied correctly it won’t work. You do not have to use any numbing cream, however if it is not used the beginning of the treatment can be painful. Lisa will use a numbing solution during the treatment which numbs the skin well.

Do not wear white or light coloured clothing.

Bring foundation if you are need to for after as foundation from forehead to eyes will most probably be wiped off.

What happens at my appointment?

Initial treatment takes roughly two hours. A perfecting touch up session takes about one hour.

After a consultation during which your face shape and colourings are analyse, your brows will then be mapped. Mapping is done thoroughly using mapping string, rulers, applications to ensure your brows are as symmetrical as possible. The length and shaping of your brows is decided by your bone structure and facial features. Lisa will measure and brow map thoroughly until we are both happy with the brow shape.

Colour is decided by your natural skin tones, the natural colour of your hair and brow hair and also on your lifestyle (if you never wear make-up a more natural choice of pigment will be used then if you wear a full face of makeup daily).

Together the method/style used for your brows will be decided. This is your choice depending on what you prefer, Lisa will guide you to select the best option if needed for example: if you are extremely oily then powder/ombre brows are a better choice as hair strokes from microblading will not last long in your skin.

Treatment will begin clients have said this feels like scratching no worse then getting your eyebrows tweezed. More numbing cream is applied throughout the treatment. Brows are tidied up during your treatment.

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the room. PLEASE NOTE – We do not allow friends or family in the room during your treatment as this may cause distractions for our technician. If you need to bring your child please make sure you have someone who is able to look after them outside of the consultation room.

Aftercare

After your appointment

For the next 24 hours you need to wipe your brows followed by a thin application of aftercare cream, this is to remove build-up of lymph.

At night apply a thicker layer before going to bed.

After 24 hours you can stop wiping and will need to apply your cream 3-5 times a day, less cream is best.

Push/dab your aftercare cream on rather than rubbing, any kind of rubbing may encourage your brows flaking stages to be removed prematurely which can result in colour loss.

Continue using aftercare cream until the flaking stage has finished about 7-10 days after treatment.

Daily care for best reults

  • No water over brow area
  • No makeup over brow area
  • Sleep on your back
  • Apply aftercare cream with cotton tip 5 times a day
  • No exercise for 7-10 days following the procedure.
  • No sweating, saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms for 7-10 days.
  • No ocean (salt or pool water) for 10-14 days.
  • No retinol/vitamin A products on the forehead for 30 days.

The longevity of your brows depends on

Your skin, and how your skin holds the pigment and how strictly to follow aftercare.

Remember, your selected colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for up to 10 days after application but as the healing process occurs the colour will soften and lighten and look more natural.

The approximate healing period is 10-14 days, however healing can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised, if you are generally stressed and also by poor diet.

Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the re-touch adjustment visit allowing us to fine tune your enhancement.

Proper care following your treatment is necessary to achieve the best results.

Please review the following instructions and refer to them as necessary.

You may experience the following symptoms for 4 days

  • Minor swelling and redness.
  • Mild tenderness.
  • Itchiness in the eyebrow area.
  • Dry flaking skin.

These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process.

If they are extremely red and tender place a cold compress or a cold gel pack over them, please ensure what ever you use to disposable or wrapped in cling wrap. Your brows need to be treated as an open wound.

Your brows will be dark and continue to get darker the first 3 days after, from day 4 they will start to scab do not touch pick or peel.

They will continue to fade and fade up to 60% they will also be patchy if needed during this stage fill your brows in with makeup after day 10.

Brows should only need colour boosters yearly, but every one’s skin is different and holds pigment differently. Prices are adjusted for those who need to come back earlier.

A healthy lifestyle definitely helps the healing stages and helps with pigment retention.

Cosmetic tattooing is 'semi permanent' however even after years there may still be traces of pigment in your skin. Brows will fade over time.
